**Zhongshan Square is the best known of the many squares in Dalian. Originally designed by Russians in the 19th century, it is especially noted for the several classical buildings located on the square built during the first half of the 20th century by the Japanese. The square was originally built in 1898 by the Russians as Nikolayevskaya Square. It was later renamed by the Japanese as Ōhiroba meaning large plaza as compared to the smaller Nishihiroba. After 1945, it was once more renamed as Zhongshan Square, in honor of Sun Zhongshan, the first president of the Republic of China.
**Sightseeing Tower - Built in 1990, the tower height is 190 metres, with mountains high, nearly 400 meters above sea level. The Tower is the highest places of sightseeing in Dalian City overlooking the Dalian city. It has a Tower Hall which is bright and spacious, located between the 266.5 to 280.5 m three-storey tower, with rotating platform, followed by the tourism agency from top to bottom, a revolving restaurant, entertainment halls, is the best place in tours, tea, dining and entertainment.
**Russian Cultural Street is the oldest street in Dalian and its original name was presumably to honor the Russian architect who designed the first master plan for the city, K.G. Skolimovskii and V.V. Sakharov, the engineer tasked to build it. In the mid-1990s then mayor of Dalian, Bo Xlai, conceived the idea of renovating the remaining Russian-era structures on the street, adding new ones built in a Russian style, and renaming the street Russian Street. Work on the project began in 1999 and brought in Russian architects and other experts. Eight Russian era buildings were renovated, including the former Russian Dalny City Hall, six new buildings were built, and six other existing structures were given "Russian façades" to match the street's theme. The newly renovated street was inaugurated on 1 October 2000.
**Xinghai Square is a city square of Dalian. It is located to the north of Xinghai Bay. Its total area is 1.1 million m². Its name literally means "the Sea of Stars". Xinghai Square was built in 1994. Its center looks like a star, with one White Marble Cloud Huabiao and 9 giant dings.
**Dalian Modern History Museum to the north of Xinghai Square contains a number of high quality, interactive exhibits on Dalian, both historical and current.
**Tiger Beach Scenic Area (Tiger Sculpture) is located in the middle of the southern coastal area of Dalian which has been accredited as one of the AAA class scenic spots in Dalian. It is well known for its blue skies, silky water, green mountains and unique rocks. One of the highlight is the Tiger Sculpture is designed by the famous Chinese painter and sculptor - Mr. Han Meilin. The sculpted tigers are 35.5-meter-long (about 116 feet), 6.5-meter-high (about 21 feet) and 6.5-meter-wide and took Mr. Han two years and nine months to finish this great work. Heading eastward, the six tigers are all different in shapes and sizes. They roar into the wind expressing their power as the King of Beasts. The Tigers Sculpture Square is the most beautiful and florid among many squares in Dalian.
** Tiger Beach Ocean Park (Polar Aquarium) is a key part of the tourist landscape of Dalian, offering tourists a chance to go shopping, enjoy Dalian's unique coastline or simply relax. The total site is over 4000 meters in size with some of China's most spectacular coastline; and the main sights here include marine animals, sea creatures, corals, Animal Show Arena, Bird Forest, Four-dimension Theatre, Bungee Jumping, Southpole Village, etc. The Polar Aquarium inside the Tiger Beach Ocean Park is the world's largest marine hall with the largest floor-space and largest volume of water of any marine park. The Marine Hall is three levels high with every level holding marine life from not just the Dalian region but from all over the world. The bottom level of the marine park has a "360 degree aqua experience" in which visitors can experience life under the sea from every angle.
